The homeless family is real. The cardboard cutouts are people hurrying off to a conference. They have their mind on more important issues than the family taking shelter against the wall. People hurry to and fro, tripping over the sleeping bodies of people who inhabit the streets of our cities. This is a human tragedy, unseen by the crowds of pedestrians and forgotten by the bureaucrats. Housing has become legal tender and the homeless the new paupers who don’t even have the comfort of the old traditional workhouses.
