The year of the mean queen

This is a story about the first queen of the bees. She commenced her reign in a democratic way, but the power went to her head. She became greedy and dictatorial. Her bad behaviour had a devastating effect on bee society and then on the environment. The bees got fed up with the greedy queen so they got rid of her and voted in a new queen. She was much smarter. She looked after the beehive and in no time the hive was happy. With hard work the bees restored the garden to its former glory. Younger children will be entertained by the pacy rhyme nd the lush illustrations. Older children and adults will appreciate the subliminal message embedded in the story.
