Thunderstorms rolled over the hills. Lightening struck, blasting trees apart. Soon they caught fire, and plumes of smoke rose in the air. The fires raced ahead of the firefront and the wind blew smoke embers and ashes into the air spreading the fire, but also spreading a warning. The city was soon to be engulfed in flames. This story recreates the Canberra bushfire of 2003. Both Caroline Ambrus and Geoffrey Miller experienced the fire and this is their tribute to those who fought the fire to save their homes.
