Old habits die hard

Old habits provide comfort and predictability in an uncertain world. The old ladies who go to church every Sunday expect to see God sooner rather than later. But iike the rest of us they would rather it be later, God willing. Humans are slaves to ritual and certainty, and so is my dog. We are not unlike animals. Things have to happen at the right time and in the right way. This is codified in ideology. Christianity is probably the most widespread and the most destructive ideology. Before they are born, human beings belong to a priveleged class with guraantees that they will be born alive, no matter who dies or who pays in the process. Then as if by magic when born they are turned into sinners who need saving through the intercession of the church. Best game on the planet. It’s self perpetuating and extremely profitable.
