Avon calling

Remember the “Avon calling” ladies of last century. I did this lithograph in the early 1990’s in memory of their cheeky persistence in braving swamps, forging rivers and tramping through dusty plains to make a sale. The dog amused me and reminded me of my various canines who would go barking mad at any person who walked past the house, or who tried to enter the yard. The door to door sales men and women are now a thing of the past. The internet has replaced their sleezy charm and their persuasive sales pitches. However they were a tad more companionable than a computer, or device, screen..
